I have found that God's word has carried me through various trials in my life. You can have all the family and friends in the world, but no one compares to God. He is with you when no one else can be. He alone is all I need (although i am very thankful for the family and friends He gave me)!
On occasion I would repeat theses verse over and over till the moment of fear would disipate. One example is when Jeremiah's stopped his chemotherapy treatment. I struggled with the thought that there was nothing I could see (his medicine) to help stop this highly malignat cancer from growing again. I had faith but I had a lot more fear at this stage. I would repeat this verse, Mark 9: 24 - 'Lord, I belive; help thou mine unbelief"over and over again. Sometimes hundred of times during the day until the moment of fear was gone.
I'm reminded of the Blunkall's song "Every page whispers I love you."
